Rhus toxicodendron or Poison ivy is an excellent remedy for Chicken-pox and back-aches. It is particularly infallible for Chicken-pox when homeopathically indicated.

Case of Sameeksha - girl child 2 yrs old.

It so happened that a relative of my Brother was visiting with her child. The child had developed fever with cough and the mother did not know what to do. A day later the child started developing vesicular skin rashes of a whitish-red complexion. I went with my Brother to make a general examination. The child had coughs during the night, when the fever was also more pronounced.

Rhus-tox was indicated. The level of susceptability in children is usually high indicating high-potencies. Since, this was a small-kid I vacillated between 30C and 200C. Finally, a choice of Rhus-tox 30C, 4 times a day at 4 hour intervals was made.

The following night the child developed very high fever, and the cough came down. The mother was worried. My Brother was not too sure. I knew however, that the remedy was working. I asked the mother to be patient, explaining to her that the increase in fever was a sure-sign that the disease was getting out of her system.

A day later the fever had reduced and all the vesicular skin rashes turned a bright red with some turning black indicating that the chicken-pox was being brought to its closure.

I visited the kid on the following evening and was surprised to find it playing in the patio. The fever and cough were gone, there were no fresh vesicular eruptions, and all the existing red-eruptions had turned black and were starting to fall off.

This then was my experience with Rhus-tox relating to its effect on chicken pox. The Child was completely cured within 2-3 days of administering the medicine.
